Utilizing magnificent handcrafted sheet glass goods from the Pacific northwest, Brock Madison Glass transforms these glass sheets into solid one-of-a-kind functional works of art for both residential and commercial clients. Through thoughtful collaborations with designers, architects and individual home owners, Brock Madison Glass transforms visions into reality.
Brock Madison’s primary focus and method of work is called glass fusing. Brock selects colored glass sheets that are hand-made by forging sand and other materials into a fiery furnace. The molten glass is then poured from the furnace and rolled into flat individual sheets which are allowed to cool slowly. Glass Fusing, is an ancient craft, first discovered by the Egyptians 4000 years ago and is being reborn today as a fascinating new art form.
Brock utilizes the colored sheet glass by cutting shapes out and arranging them into patterns. Once the color and composition works, the piece is kiln-fired at about 1500 degrees, causing it to melt into a solid whole.
Finally, the piece is signed by the artist. Every piece is unique and handmade by Brock Madison. Being that this is a hand-crafted process, variations occur with each work, making each a one-of-a-kind original.
